None of this changes how often it happens. It changes what is documented before and during the project.
This does not predict who will be difficult and does not make anyone a better builder. It records what can be recorded — a license review, an insurance document, a signed scope, and a funded milestone — and shows those records at the relevant stage of the project.

How a milestone moves
Start with the signed contract.
Agree on the scope, price, and milestones in writing before work begins. Both sides work from the same signed record.
For eligible projects using platform payment services, payment processing and availability are subject to the third-party payment provider’s terms, controls, and state availability. A disputed milestone follows the signed agreement and applicable dispute process.

We agreed on the milestone and signed it. The project record shows the milestone’s funding status before I begin the milestone work.

Eligible new web subscribers receive three months without a subscription fee. A payment method is required. At checkout, we will show the exact date your free period ends and the date and amount of your first charge. Unless you cancel before that date, your selected plan will renew automatically each month at $39.00 for Pro or $99.00 for Business, plus applicable taxes. Cancel online at any time in Account Settings. Except where required by law, paid subscription fees are nonrefundable, and access continues through the end of the paid billing period. Prices shown are for the web app; subscriptions purchased in the iOS app are billed by Apple at App Store prices ($39.99/mo Pro, $99.99/mo Business), the price shown in Apple's purchase sheet controls, and Apple determines introductory-offer eligibility.
For Homeowners
Homeowners may use the Free subscription plan at $0. For projects using platform payment services, applicable provider and platform fees are shown before the payment is confirmed.
For Contractors
A 0.75–3.5% platform fee, withheld from each payment to you. Your rate is set by the size of the whole project, so larger projects pay a lower rate on every payment. No lead fees.

License records + contract warranty term
Check contractor-license information against available official records. The standard project agreement includes a contractor workmanship-warranty provision, subject to the agreement and applicable law. TrustConstruct does not provide or insure the warranty.
Zero Lead Fees
Contractors pay $0 per lead. Keep your bids. We only earn when work is completed.
Dispute Resolution Built-in
If something goes wrong, either side may open a dispute on the milestone. A case is opened on the platform, both sides can upload evidence, and the milestone does not advance while the case remains open.

Start with the agreement you both signed. It records the agreed scope, price, and what completion means before work begins. A clear written record can prevent or narrow disagreements later.

If the work does not match the agreement
If either side believes the work does not match the signed agreement, that party may open a dispute on the milestone. A case is opened on the platform, both sides can upload evidence, and the milestone does not advance while the case remains open. Any photos, daily logs, and messages saved to the project give both sides a shared record instead of requiring them to rely only on memory.

One shared record
The signed agreement, project records, and milestone payment status stay together on the platform. If a disagreement occurs, both sides can work from the same record.
Opening a case does not replace or limit any right or remedy under the signed agreement or applicable law. TrustConstruct does not decide who is entitled to a disputed payment. Nothing on this page is legal advice.

General
Angi and Thumbtack sell leads. They charge contractors for leads. TrustConstruct is a full platform: marketplace, milestone tracking, contractor license verification, and dispute resolution, all in one.
No hidden fees. Homeowners can start on a Free plan ($0), with optional Pro ($39/mo) and Business ($99/mo) plans that unlock more active projects and advanced features. Contractors pay no lead fees, just a platform fee on completed projects. Standard payment processing fees from the third-party payment provider also apply.
Any residential construction or renovation project — kitchen remodels, bathroom renovations, room additions, roofing, painting, landscaping, full home renovations, and more. We also support general contractors who hire sub-contractors through the platform.
Yes — the TrustConstruct iPhone app is on the App Store today, and it gives both homeowners and contractors full access to projects, milestones, chat, photos, estimates, and payments — everything the web platform does, on the go. An Android app is not available yet.

For eligible projects when platform payment services are available, the payment provider processes milestone payments through a provider-controlled transaction balance under its terms and controls. TrustConstruct does not hold customer funds. For eligible projects using platform payment services, if no dispute is open, the payment provider processes the milestone payment after the homeowner approves the completed milestone. If something goes wrong, TrustConstruct opens a case, both sides upload evidence, and the milestone does not advance while it is open. TrustConstruct is not a bank, lender, or escrow agent and does not hold customer funds. Payment services are provided by an independent third-party payment provider, subject to its terms and state availability.
You always have the right to reject a milestone if it doesn't meet the agreed scope. For eligible projects when platform payment services are available, the payment provider processes milestone payments through a provider-controlled transaction balance under its terms and controls. TrustConstruct does not hold customer funds. If a dispute arises, either side may open a case on that milestone. Both sides can upload evidence, and the milestone does not advance while the case remains open. For eligible projects using platform payment services, if no dispute is open, the payment provider processes the milestone payment after the homeowner approves the completed milestone. A disputed balance follows the signed agreement, the applicable dispute process, and the payment provider’s applicable controls. TrustConstruct may facilitate evidence exchange but does not decide the merits or entitlement to a disputed payment.
Signing up is quick and free. Post a project or search contractors, review bids, and agree on a written scope and milestones. The payment status will show when the provider reports the milestone funded. Begin work only after the signed agreement and any required permit, notice, scheduling, or other start conditions are satisfied. Funding does not guarantee payout.
For Contractors
If a homeowner approves a completed milestone, that approval authorizes a payout request through the payment workflow. The payment provider processes any payout under its terms, review, and controls.
Payout timing is controlled by the payment provider and may vary based on the payment method, banking days, account review, compliance checks, and the receiving bank. Check the current status shown in the payment flow.
No lead fees, ever. Contractors pay only a platform fee on completed projects, with no subscription required to get hired, and no charge for browsing projects, submitting bids, or chatting with clients. Homeowners start on a Free plan, with optional Pro ($39/mo) and Business ($99/mo) subscriptions for more projects and advanced features.
You upload your contractor license, insurance, and any specialty certifications during onboarding. Our admin team verifies them. For regulated specialties (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.), bidding is gated until your license is verified — this protects both you and the client.
For Sub-Contractors
Working under a General Contractor on TrustConstruct.
A General Contractor can invite you to a project as a sub-contractor. You get your own milestone schedule with the GC. Your relationship is with the GC. The homeowner doesn't see your portion.
No. You only see the price agreed between you and the General Contractor. The GC's margin between what the client pays and what you receive is private. This is standard practice in the trades and protects business relationships on both sides.
